Athena C. Fertig MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-C
Athena C. Fertig is a Nurse Practitioner dual board-certified in Psychiatric mental health and Family practice. She has over 38 years experience in healthcare, caring for individuals and their families.
She obtained a diploma in practical nursing from Southeast Community College, an associate's degree in nursing from Excelsior College, a bachelor's degree in nursing from Bryan College of Health Sciences, a masters degree in nursing-family practice from Creighton University, and a post-masters certificate in psychiatric mental health from The University of Cincinnati.
Athena spent 24 years of her her career working in bedside nursing, including long-term care nursing, acute care, ambulatory surgical care, followed by 12 years working as a family practice nurse practitioner in community health, urgent care, and emergency medicine. She has found her passion in the mental health field.
Athena has experience in treating depression, anxiety, bipolar, schizophrenia, trauma-related disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders, attention deficit, personality disorders, and addiction.
Her goal is to meet clients where they are, and empower clients and caregivers with shared treatment planning. She takes a holistic approach, considering not just psychiatric needs, but also physical health, nutrition, lifestyle factors, and environmental influences.
She provides a safe, welcoming environment for patients and families, promoting trust, respect and a commitment to providing quality care.
Athena is licensed in IA, NE, CO, and KS. She is accepting clients of all ages. ​​​​

Kelsey Burr DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC
Kelsey Burr is a board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years of experience in mental health care. Born and raised in Nebraska, she has a strong understanding of the values and culture of communities across Nebraska and Iowa, allowing her to provide care that is both relatable and personalized.
Kelsey completed her training at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, graduating at the top of her class with a 4.0 GPA. She was honored with the Irma Kyle Kramer Award for academic excellence in recognition of her outstanding achievements.
She provides thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care with a focus on medication management, while also integrating elements of cognitive behavioral therapy and lifestyle interventions such as exercise and sleep optimization. Her approach is collaborative, evidence-based, and centered on helping patients feel understood, supported, and empowered.
Kelsey has experience treating a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, trauma-related disorders, and psychosis. She has worked across outpatient, crisis, and inpatient settings, equipping her to effectively support both stable and more complex presentations.
Her goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where patients can work collaboratively to develop treatment plans that align with their individual needs, preferences, and goals. She believes mental health care should be practical, personalized, and focused on improving daily functioning and overall well-being.
Kelsey is licensed in NE, (IA-coming soon), and AZ. She will be accepting clients of all ages. ​​​​
